Advocacy

Korea Future is the leading organisation driving international accountability for human rights violations in North Korea. Our work has directly influenced international mechanisms and legal responses to North Korea’s human rights crisis.

In 2024, Korea Future played a decisive role in strengthening the United Nations Human Rights Council resolution on North Korea, securing key amendments that, for the first time, comprehensively recognised the country’s prison system. This marked a major advancement beyond the UN Commission of Inquiry’s 2014 findings and has laid the foundation for future accountability efforts. At the United Nations General Assembly, we ensured that evidence of North Korea’s systematic human rights violations informed the annual resolution, reinforcing calls for accountability and justice.

Our advocacy extends beyond UN resolutions to directly mobilise governments, international bodies, and civil society towards action. Through policy briefings, legal submissions, and expert consultations, we provide timely, strategic insights that influence decision-making at the highest levels.

By bridging diplomatic and legal pathways, Korea Future is ensuring that accountability remains a global priority. We are building the legal and political conditions necessary for future justice efforts, ensuring that North Korean perpetrators face consequences and that decisions are based on credible evidence. Through a combination of investigation, legal strategy, and advocacy, Korea Future is shaping the international community’s approach to North Korea’s human rights crisis—driving action where it is needed most.
