Survivors of gross violations of international human rights are entitled to know the truth behind these violations under international law. In 2017 we explored the potential for a Truth Commission for North Korea.
Paying heed to the anti-Nazi dissident, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who declared that “Action springs not from thought, but from a readiness for responsibility”, we envisaged how stakeholders can deliver moral justice for North Korea.
Justice on the scale that will be required in North Korea must be coordinated, planned, and even established before dramatic shifts take place in Pyongyang. In such a situation, we must look to a Truth Commission.
