Korea Future cited in the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office’s 2020 Human Rights & Democracy Report

The United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office’s 2020 Human Rights & Democracy Report has drawn on our work on religious freedom violations in its assessment of the current human rights landscape in North Korea, noting that our report, Persecuting Faith: Documenting religious freedom violations in North Korea, “assessed the status of freedom of religion or belief in DPRK, and contained disturbing accounts of human rights violations against those who have attempted to practise their religion or belief.”

The 2020 Human Rights & Democracy Report provides an overview of work in 2020 by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and its diplomatic network to defend human rights and promote democracy around the world. It sets out the analysis on country situations and thematic issues which directs this work, including North Korea.

We thank the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and its North Korea unit for its ongoing work in multilateral fora for human rights in North Korea, its commitment to accountability through the Global Human Rights sanctions regime, and its support of the work of nongovernmental organisations.
